Project Greengold - One year on...

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Property services group movewithus is celebrating the success of its popular development ‘Project Greengold’…

In June 2007, movewithus, the UK’s leading property services group, launched Project Greengold, an investment project designed to capitalise on the growing demand for arable land. The first three stages of the investment sold out within months and in response, movewithus launched two new Greengold investments - ‘Optimum’ and ‘Premium’.

This month, Project Greengold celebrates its first anniversary and the earliest investors receive their first annual rental payments. The development has proven so popular that more than 15% of its clients have returned to reinvest. Many of the UK’s leading SIPP providers have allowed clients to invest personally, via their SIPPs.

Unique opportunity to invest

The current phase of the investment, Greengold Optimum, offers a unique opportunity to invest in new arable farmland in the North West Region of Argentina. The annual returns paid to investors, net of all costs and fees, start at 10% of the initial investment, rising annually by one percent each year to a maximum of 20%. Investors can exit after four, eight or twelve years, with up to 80% capital appreciation. The minimum investment is £20,000 but investors can put forward as much as £1 million in either USD, Euros or Sterling.

Optimum’s sister investment, Greengold Premium, still has limited plots available. Although there is a minimum investment of £25,000 (or Euro / USD equivalent), there is no maximum. The annual return paid to investors, net of all costs and fees, is 10% of their investment. Investors can exit after five or ten years, receiving the market value of the land with a minimum of 20% capital gain in five years and 50% capital gain in ten years. Investors can also arrange a private sale at any time.

The investment case for arable land in Argentina is convincing. Current macro-economic factors including record oil prices and a worldwide food shortage have increased demand for crops which can be harvested as a source of food, animal feed and bio-fuels.

Economic indicators suggest that investors in arable land are well placed to profit from a global oil shortage and the projected rise in reliance on bio-fuels. In most of the established oil fields throughout the world, production is reaching its peak and large oil companies are less willing to invest in oil exploration in politically unstable areas.

Opportunities selling out fast

The rising GDP of developing countries like China and India means a proportionally larger and more affluent middle class with more disposable income. This, in turn, increases demand for meat and food staples such as rice.

Opportunities in Optimum are selling out fast and Premium has only ten plots remaining. movewithus is already looking to release further Greengold investments and look forward to developing this unique structured investment in the future.
